Leadership Camp for Young Women

PeacemakeHERS 2017

“Transformative Peace Activism: Local to Global”

Friday, August 11th – Sunday, August 13th at
Thinkers Lodge National Historic Site in Pugwash, NS.

We are looking for PeacemakeHERS!

PeacemakeHers Leadership Camp for Young Women is a three-day program of peace education for young women who are interested in becoming leaders in local, regional and global peacemaking.

We are thrilled at the prospect of welcoming more new participants between the ages of 18 and 30 years to our 2017 PeacemakeHers Leadership Camp in Pugwash, Nova Scotia. Here you can connect with other like-minded, enthusiastic young people and share in what has been termed by past attendees ‘a life-changing experience’.

Facilitated by peace educators and mentors, this peacefully packed mini-conference will be an important opportunity for us to learn from each other and share peacebuilding strategies that we can bring forward to our organizations, schools, groups, families, and communities.

Come and join us for wonderful programs by skillful presenters on topics such as Indigenous cultural practices, current efforts to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons, the revered Blanket Exercise, how it is everyone’s responsibility to strive for equity and inclusion, and other topics that build towards global and local peace. A complete list of programming can be found on our Schedule of Activities list. Drumming and campfires will end the evenings, with the possibility of a dip in the warm waters of the beautiful Northumberland Straight! If you want to be a PeacemakeHer, apply here.

PeacemakeHERS is a project of the Nova Scotia Voice of Women for Peace (NS VOW), a chapter of the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace.
